Division 4 - DOUBLE DAFFODILS

Distinguishing characters: One or more flowers to a stem, with doubling of the perianth segments or the corona or both.
Division 5 - TRIANDRUS DAFFODILS
Distinguishing characters: Characteristics of N. triandrus clearly evident: usually two or more pendent flowers to a stem; perianth segments reflexed.
Division 6 - CYCLAMINEUS DAFFODILS
Distinguishing characters: Characteristics of N. cyclamineus clearly evident: usually one flower to a stem; perianth segments reflexed; Flower at an acute angle to the stem, with a very short pedicel (neck).
Division 7 - JONQUILLA AND APODANTHUS DAFFODILS
Characteristics of sections Jonquilla or Apodanthi clearly evident: one to five (rarely eight) flowers to a rounded or somewhat compressed stem; leaves narrow, semi-cylindrical or channelled, green or glaucous; flowers yellow or white (exceptionally green), but other colours are accepted in cultivars in this division; perianth segments spreading or reflexed; corona cup-shaped, funnel-shaped, or flared, usually wider than long; flowers strongly or faintly fragrant.
Division 8 - TAZETTA DAFFODILS
Characteristics of sections N.tazetta clearly evident: usually three to twenty flowers to a stout stem; leaves broad; perianth segments spreading not reflexed; flowers fragrant.
Division 9 - POETICUS DAFFODILS
Characteristics of N.poeticus group: usually one flower to a stem; perianth segments purewhite; corona very short or disc-shaped, usually with a green or yellow centre and a red rim, but sometimes of a single colour; flowers fragrant.
Division 10 - BULBOCODIUM DAFFODILS
Characteristics of section Bulbocodium clearly evident: one flower to a stem; perianth segments insignificant compared with the dominant corona; leaves narrow; anthers dorsifixed (ie attached more or less centrally to the filament); filament and style usually curved.
Division 11 - SPLIT-CORONA DAFFODILS
Distinguishing characters: Corona split - usually for more than half its length
INTERMEDIATE DAFFODILS 50mm-80mm
An Intermediate daffodil must clearly show characteristics that rend it too large to be classed as a miniature and too small to compete as a standard daffodil. As a guideline, flowers are expected to measure between 50 and 80mm in diameter with the perianth spread out. Entries must be identified by either their registered name or by the raisers seedling number. Exhibitors are advised that if uncertain, advice and confirmation can be obtained from any National Daffodil Society of New Zealand member.

Society Rules
1 All exhibits for competitions must be bona fide property of the competitor, and must have been in his (or her) possession for at least two calendar months previous to the exhibition except (a) in the case of an exhibitor who has just recently imported any new or rare plants; (b) flowers for decorative exhibits. All pot plants must have been in pots for a like period.
2In the main flower sections for all shows, the following will apply:
Open sections may be contested by ALL (includes commercial growers, professionals, home gardeners, instructors, etc).
Amateur sections Persons who grow flowers for enjoyment only, NOT for profit on a commercial scale. This does not exclude persons who sell surplus stock occasionally.
3NO exhibits may be removed without permission before closing time on the final day of the show (4pm). Prize giving is at 4pm.
4All protests against the awards of Judges must be made in writing and delivered to the secretary on the first day of the Show. Such protests shall be considered by the Committee or a duly appointed Sub-committee as soon as possible after the receipt and the decision of the Committee or Sub-committee shall be final.
5TROPHIES, ROSETTES, AWARDS, and CERTIFICATES will be awarded according to the schedule at the Judges discretion.
6Entries must be staged between the hours of 11am and 7pm.

Memberships are offered at an annual cost of $10.00 for singles and $12.00 for couples/families.
Membership entitles you to free entry (normally $5*) to both the Spring and Summer Flower Shows. Please contact the Society Secretary for further information or to obtain your membership.
